In a significant bust within the Kaimur wildlife sanctuary, forest officials successfully apprehended a poacher on Tuesday. The operation, which involved undercover officers posing as buyers, led to the seizure of a large quantity of deer heads, horns, and animal flesh. The arrest was made in Dumuruka village following specific intelligence about the sale of Nilgai meat.
The arrested individual, Shiv Ram, was found selling freshly cut Nilgai meat. A subsequent raid on his residence uncovered several heads of chital and sambar deer, along with numerous horns. The poacher revealed the identities of five accomplices involved in wildlife smuggling within the sanctuary.
A case has been registered against all six named individuals under the Indian Forest Act and the Wildlife Protection Act. Authorities are pursuing the accused who are reported to have fled into the forests of neighboring Uttar Pradesh.
