A Coweta County Sheriff's Office K9 deputy, Robbi, demonstrated incredible resilience on Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle during a pursuit. The incident unfolded as deputies responded to a possible bank robbery at Regions Bank in Newnan, Georgia.
Authorities attempted a traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle, but the driver failed to yield, initiating a chase. The pursuit concluded when the suspect crashed and attempted to flee on foot.
During the foot pursuit, K9 Robbi was hit by a vehicle. Nevertheless, the determined canine continued to track and help apprehend the suspect, leading to the individual's arrest. Robbi was subsequently transported to Sweetwater Veterinary Hospital.
Veterinary staff determined Robbi suffered only minor abrasions and no internal injuries. The brave K9 is expected to make a full recovery. The Newnan Police Department is currently leading the investigation into the bank robbery and the subsequent chase, with suspect identification and charges pending.
