Worboys victim appeal: Police urge more to come forward
24 May
Summary
- Police are appealing for more victims of John Worboys to contact them.
- Worboys is serving life after convictions for offenses against 12 women.
- A 2019 report suggests Worboys may have preyed on up to 90 individuals.

The Metropolitan Police has issued an appeal for any individuals who believe they were victims of John Worboys to contact them. Worboys is currently serving a life sentence for numerous sexual offenses committed while operating a taxi. He was initially convicted in 2009 for 19 offenses against 12 women, and in 2019, received a life sentence with a minimum term of six years after more victims surfaced.
Concerns about the full extent of Worboys' crimes have been amplified by a recent ITV drama and the publication of a prison psychologist's report. This report indicated that Worboys himself accepted preying on approximately 90 individuals. The police have previously acknowledged serious failings in their initial investigation into his crimes and have apologized for the distress caused.
Recent developments include the parole board's decision earlier this month to deny Worboys, now known as John Radford, release. The board concluded he still poses a high risk of committing further serious sexual offenses. Carrie Johnson, who publicly disclosed she may have been a victim, welcomed this decision, stating women and girls are safer as a result.
