7 Feb
Summary
- Stalker released to mental health program, not jail.
- Actor's lawyers argued for secure hospital treatment.
- Court ordered strict conditions for his release.

Jimmy Carwyle, accused of stalking Jennifer Aniston, has been released from custody into a mental health diversion program. Carwyle was arrested on May 5, 2025, after crashing his vehicle into the gates of Aniston's Bel Air property. He faced felony vandalism and stalking charges but was deemed not competent to stand trial.
Following further evaluations, a judge ordered Carwyle to comply with a strict treatment plan. This includes taking prescribed medications, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, and avoiding weapons. He must reside in a specific home program and participate in addiction treatment. He is also mandated to wear a GPS ankle monitor and maintain a one-mile distance from Aniston.
Aniston's legal team had advocated for Carwyle to be placed in a locked state hospital, expressing concerns about her ongoing safety. They detailed his history of delusions, including erotomanic delusions, and severe substance abuse, arguing his release posed a significant risk.
Carwyle, who previously admitted to domestic violence and drug use, has denied mental illness. Doctors have diagnosed him with schizophrenia and substance use disorders, agreeing that antipsychotic medication is appropriate. The court proceedings remain suspended pending his treatment completion, with his program maximum commitment date set for October 15, 2027.
