Jaunpur Police Secure Convictions in 9 Cases of Crimes Against Women

Over the past 15 days, from September 22 to October 7, 2025, the Jaunpur Police in the Varanasi Zone have secured convictions in 9 cases related to crimes against women. As a result, 10 accused individuals have been sentenced to imprisonment and fines, highlighting the police's dedication to thorough investigation and effective prosecution.

The cases involved a range of offenses, including dowry harassment, sexual assault, and violations of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Each conviction reflects the Mission Shakti-5 initiative's focus on ensuring swift and impactful justice for women victims.

For instance, at the Pawara Police Station, one accused, Gulab Bind, was convicted under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 25,000. Similarly, at the Mirganj Police Station, accused Indresh Kumar Dubey and Nirmala Devi of Ramgarh village were each sentenced to 10 years of simple imprisonment and fined Rs 12,000.

The police's efforts have also led to the conviction of a juvenile offender, who was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 25,000 in a case involving a minor at the Gaurabadshahpur Police Station. These convictions demonstrate the police's unwavering commitment to ensuring justice for women and children through thorough investigations, diligent evidence collection, and effective court proceedings.
