A law student, Sachchidanand Mishra, 30, was tragically beaten to death in Gobra village, Jaunpur district, on Sunday night. The motive for the brutal attack appears to stem from suspicions of an illicit relationship between the victim and the wife of the accused, Vishnu Mishra.
Vishnu Mishra and an accomplice have been arrested by the police. According to reports, Mishra had previously issued threats to Sachchidanand. The attack occurred after Sachchidanand was lured to Vishnu's residence, where he was beaten with sticks.
Residents alerted the police after hearing screams. Sachchidanand was rushed to the district hospital but was declared dead. His father stated that Sachchidanand was studying law in Prayagraj and interning at the Jaunpur civil court. Some villagers reportedly took him away around 10 PM, leading to the discovery of his injured state later.
Family members have accused individuals from the same village, and there are allegations that a written complaint filed three days prior concerning a dispute was not acted upon by the police.
