James Bulger Grave Vandalized Again, Mother Devastated
11 Apr
Summary
- Toddler James Bulger's grave was desecrated for the second time in six weeks.
- Vandals again smashed off the heads of cherubs on the child's gravestone.
- Donations totaling over £20,000 had been raised for grave repairs.

The mother of murdered toddler James Bulger, Denise Fergus, has expressed her deep distress and disgust as her son's grave suffered a second desecration within six weeks. Heartless vandals once again targeted the gravestone, smashing off the heads of the cherubs that had only recently been repaired. Over £20,000 had been raised through a GoFundMe page to restore James's resting place. This latest act has left Ms. Fergus devastated, questioning the cruelty of those who would defile a child's grave. Merseyside Police have renewed their efforts to find the missing cherub heads and identify those responsible for this unacceptable act. The incident follows a similar attack in February, where cherubs were also damaged, and a smaller angel was found in a bin. The funds raised were intended not only for repairs but also for future security and to create a lasting legacy for James, including support for the James Bulger Memorial Trust, which helps struggling families. James Bulger was abducted and murdered in Liverpool in February 1993 by Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, who were then the youngest convicted murderers in modern British history. Both were released on life licenses in 2001 under new identities. Venables has since been recalled to prison twice for child pornography offenses.
