Summary
- Woman doctor found dead in her locked room.
- Family alleges husband's involvement in mental and physical abuse.
- Rs 2.5 crore loan found running in the doctor's name.

A distressing case has emerged in Jalandhar, Punjab, where a woman doctor, Dr. Meenakshi, was found dead by suicide in her home on Wednesday. Her family has lodged a complaint, alleging that her estranged husband, Dr. Piyush, subjected her to significant mental and physical abuse. The police were compelled to break into the house, as all doors were locked from the inside.
The family's allegations are severe, pointing to Dr. Piyush's alleged extramarital affair and subsequent abuse of Dr. Meenakshi. According to her mother, the victim discovered her husband's affair through CCTV footage. The situation escalated, leading Dr. Meenakshi to live separately since July 2025 due to the alleged assaults. She was reportedly seeking a divorce, with her family planning to pursue legal action.
Further complicating the matter, the family discovered a substantial loan of Rs 2.5 crore registered in Dr. Meenakshi's name. These funds were apparently for her husband's hospital and a car, despite her not signing any documents. The cause of death awaits post-mortem results, as the family remains uncertain whether it was suicide or murder. Dr. Piyush's phone is currently switched off, and he has not yet been available for questioning.
