Four individuals, including three police constables, were apprehended by Jaipur city police on Friday for their alleged involvement in a ₹17 lakh extortion scheme. The incident unfolded on Wednesday when the victim, an NIC employee, was detained during a staged roadside interception in Mansarovar. He was subsequently intimidated with threats of false criminal charges that could jeopardize his employment, leading him to pay a large sum.
The conspiracy was reportedly orchestrated by Yogesh Patel, who had a financial dispute with the victim, and his relative Pawan Kumar Gurjar. Gurjar, a café operator with police contacts, allegedly conspired with the constables, identified as Babulal Meena and Anil Kumar Ragera from Mansarovar station, and Kailash Chand from Narayan Vihar station. Patel, however, managed to abscond with the extorted money.
