Inmate Claims Jail Superintendent Kept Her Gold
9 Feb
Summary
- Former inmate accused jail superintendent of not returning gold ornaments.
- Ornaments include earrings, a gold ring, and a nose ring.
- Dispute follows prior accusations between the two jail officials.

A former inmate of Choudwar circle jail in Cuttack has lodged a police complaint against the prison's senior superintendent, Sujit Kumar Raula. The woman alleges that her gold ornaments, comprising earrings, a gold ring, and a nose ring, were not returned to her upon her release on bail on December 23rd. She had deposited these items with the jail authorities when she was initially imprisoned on September 23rd of the previous year.
Superintendent Raula has dismissed the allegations, stating that former jailer Santoshini Dash had taken the ornaments into her custody and failed to hand them over upon her transfer. However, Dash has refuted this claim. This dispute arises in the context of ongoing tension between Raula and Dash, who recently received show-cause notices following mutual police complaints regarding negligence in a past jailbreak incident.
