ED Slams Fernandez Plea in Sukesh Case
11 May
Summary
- ED opposes actor Jacqueline Fernandez's plea to become an approver.
- Agency labels her a 'significant beneficiary' of crime proceeds.
- Court scheduled further hearing for May 12.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed actor Jacqueline Fernandez's application to be declared an approver in the Rs 200 crore money laundering case linked to Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
The agency contends Fernandez was not a minor participant but a "significant beneficiary" and an "active participant" in the alleged laundering operations. The ED stated that Fernandez maintained regular contact with Chandrashekhar and accepted expensive gifts despite knowing his criminal background.
The court has directed Fernandez to respond to the ED's objections, with the next hearing scheduled for May 12. The ED also alleged that Fernandez did not fully cooperate during the investigation and provided incomplete disclosures.
Chandrashekhar is accused of impersonating officials to defraud a businesswoman of nearly ₹200 crore. The ED included Fernandez as an accused in August 2022, following its initial prosecution complaint in December 2021.
