A double shooting on Jacksonville's Shirley Avenue on January 31st resulted in critical injuries for both a store clerk and a suspect. The incident unfolded around 12:45 p.m. when the clerk, a man in his early twenties, intervened in a theft at a local business.
During the confrontation, the clerk was shot in the chest and rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Later, a second man, also in his early twenties, arrived at the hospital with a critical gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The Sheriff's Office reported that several people have been detained in connection with the shooting. Robbery and Violent Crimes Unit detectives are conducting a thorough investigation, including canvassing the area for security video and additional witnesses.
