Man Denied Bond in Jackson Triple Homicide

Devon Modacure, 32, has been denied bond after being linked to a June 27 triple homicide in Jackson, Mississippi. A Hinds County judge ruled Modacure a flight risk due to his extensive criminal history, denying him bond on all charges. He now awaits a grand jury indictment.

The victims, Keyana Weathersby, 26, her 2-year-old son Camari Givens, and her sister Erica Weathersby, 30, were killed in their home on Queen Alexandria Lane. Modacure faces multiple charges, including three counts of capital murder, firearm possession by a felon, aggravated assault, armed robbery, burglary, and auto theft.

Detective Terrence Jackson testified that GPS data and witness accounts placed Modacure at the scene. The crime reportedly escalated from a marijuana deal into a robbery and murder scheme involving four suspects: Modacure, Cornelius Carter, Jordan Carter, and Mikala Young. The father of the toddler was allegedly the intended target due to a financial dispute.

Modacure was apprehended in Texas on July 1 and extradited to Mississippi. He refused to provide a statement to police. The Jackson Police Department described the attack as targeted, intentional, and heinous, noting that a stolen police-issued rifle may have been used in the killings.
