CDA Staff to Run 35-Bed Prison Hospital
30 Oct
Summary
- CDA medical team of 33 professionals to manage prison hospital.
- Prison hospital will feature a 35-bed facility for inmates.
- Telemedicine services to connect inmates with specialist doctors remotely.

The Federal Prison Islamabad is enhancing its healthcare services by enlisting a team of 33 medical professionals from the Capital Development Authority (CDA). This team will manage a newly established 35-bed hospital dedicated to inmate care. The collaboration was solidified during a meeting on October 22, where the prison administration formally requested CDA's support to bolster medical services.
Key to this upgrade is the introduction of a telemedicine facility, allowing inmates to consult specialists remotely. This innovation aims to bypass the security risks, costs, and delays associated with transporting prisoners for medical appointments. The medical wing will operate under a clear chain of command, with a designated Chief Medical Officer reporting to the SSP Prisons.
