Iowa regulators have suspended the chiropractic license of Jason Rannfeldt, who was convicted of bank fraud and money laundering. The Iowa Board of Chiropractic filed charges against Rannfeldt in July 2025 for practicing outside his professional scope, criminal conviction, and unlicensed medical practice. These charges followed his guilty plea in March 2023 to offenses including bank fraud and money laundering.
The board alleged Rannfeldt continued practicing after his license lapsed in 2023 and posted videos identifying himself as a physician. To resolve the case, his license was suspended for one year, backdated to November 2025, making him eligible for reinstatement in four months. Upon reinstatement, his license will be on probation for up to six years, subject to financial review, and he must complete ethics training.
Federal records show Rannfeldt was accused of using his clinic and other businesses to obtain Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans by falsifying applications, routing funds to his personal accounts, and seeking loans for a new home. Prosecutors stated these actions resulted in attempted losses exceeding $600,000 to multiple financial institutions, with actual losses incurred by two of them. Rannfeldt pleaded guilty to five charges, leading to a three-year prison sentence and restitution orders.
During sentencing in May 2024, Rannfeldt's attorney mentioned his 'long COVID' symptoms, including breathing and memory problems. Rannfeldt apologized for his actions, stating, "This is not me" and expressing embarrassment over wasting taxpayer money.
