Huntley Murder Charge: Inmate Faces Court

An inmate has been charged with the murder of Soham killer Ian Huntley. Anthony Russell, 43, appeared via video-link at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. He confirmed his name and acknowledged his upcoming appearance at Newcastle Crown Court.
The charge is for the murder of the 52-year-old Huntley, who was reportedly attacked in a workshop at HMP Frankland on February 26. Huntley died on Saturday at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
Huntley was serving a life sentence for the 2002 murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman. He killed the girls after they left a family barbecue in August 2002, and their bodies were found 13 days later.
He was convicted of murder in 2003 and jailed for life with a minimum term of 40 years. His former partner, Maxine Carr, received a 21-month sentence for perverting the course of justice.
