Tanzanian authorities have shared new details in the investigation into the death of influencer Ashlee Jenae, legally known as Ashly Robinson. The 31-year-old content creator was pronounced dead at a hospital in Zanzibar on April 9, with the Zanzibar Police Force later ruling her death a suicide. Investigators reportedly discovered that Robinson had asked the AI chatbot ChatGPT in the month prior to her death, "How much Valium would kill me?" This query, according to Assistant Director of Criminal Investigation Zuberi Chembera, displayed "suicidal intent."
Further findings from the police investigation included "farewell messages" on Robinson's phone and other devices, which "clearly confirmed" her struggles with depression. Robinson, who was based in Portland, Oregon, and shared lifestyle content with over 88,000 Instagram followers, was on a trip to Zanzibar with her fiancé, Joe McCann, when she was found lifeless. McCann, engaged to Robinson days before her death, has cooperated with authorities, stating that while her death was a suicide, it does not diminish the tragedy.
