10 Apr
Summary
- Key accused Amritpal Mehron deported from UAE and arrested in Delhi.
- Social media influencer Kanchan Kumari found dead in Bathinda in June 2025.
- Mehron allegedly killed Kumari due to her social media content.

The primary suspect in the murder of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, Amritpal Mehron, was deported from the UAE and arrested upon his arrival at Delhi airport on April 10, 2026. Kumari, who was active on Instagram as 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi,' was discovered deceased in an abandoned car in a Bathinda hospital parking lot on June 11, 2025.
Mehron, a 30-year-old resident of Moga and a self-styled radical Sikh leader, had reportedly fled to the UAE subsequent to Kumari's killing in June 2025. The Bathinda police had issued a lookout circular for him, establishing him as the principal accused. Central agencies assisted the Punjab Police in locating Mehron, leading to his detention in the UAE in January 2026.
Kumari, a Ludhiana resident, had left home on June 9, 2025, for a promotional event in Bathinda. Her body was found on June 11. Interrogation of two previously arrested individuals revealed that Mehron and associates had surveilled Kumari for three months prior to the murder. They had stayed near her residence and visited her home.
Mehron lured Kumari to Bathinda on June 9, 2025, under the guise of a car promotion. Upon her arrival, Mehron, along with accomplices Jaspreet Singh and Nimrajit Singh, boarded her car. They took the vehicle to a garage for repairs and later, after parking their own vehicle, all four traveled in Kumari's car. Inside, Jaspreet and Nimrajeet confiscated her phones, demanded passwords, and assaulted her when she refused. They subsequently strangled her to death using a waist belt at a secluded location.
A video surfaced after the murder, reportedly featuring Mehron claiming Kumari was killed for her "immoral and vulgar content" online and warning others against similar posts. Police also stated Mehron had threatened at least two other women influencers in different states.
