Indore Police Nab Cheating Accused in Housing Scam

Rau police in Indore have apprehended Shailendra Sharma, a 49-year-old resident of New York City, Rau, on charges of defrauding a woman of Rs 42.50 lakh. The complainant, Seema Shahzade, alleged that Sharma accepted a significant sum for house registration.
However, the registration was never completed, and the money was not returned. Following Shahzade's complaint, Rau police initiated an investigation.
A case was formally registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including those pertaining to cheating, forgery of wills, and possession of forged documents.
Through diligent analysis of technical evidence and the activation of their informant network, police successfully traced and arrested Sharma. He reportedly confessed to the fraud during initial questioning. Further interrogation and legal proceedings are ongoing, with Sharma being presented before the court.
