A 23-year-old man, Raj Makwana, tragically died on Thursday night in Indore after allegedly being slapped by a policeman. Raj had reportedly stepped out of his apartment in the Tapti Complex due to breathing discomfort and ongoing treatment for mental stress.
According to his family, a security guard questioned Raj about being out late, which escalated and led to police interrogation. Despite the family explaining Raj's mental health condition and medication, Raj allegedly apologized but was then slapped by an officer. Fearing police action, Raj reportedly went upstairs and jumped from the fifth floor, dying instantly.
Police, however, present a different account. They stated that a guard reported a disturbance, and their team counselled Raj and his mother, who confirmed his mental illness. Police claim they left the scene, and approximately 45 minutes later, Raj jumped. A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.
