An Indiana mother has been charged with neglect resulting in death after her 3-year-old son drowned in a backyard pool on a recent Saturday. Authorities report that Amie Jo Farber allegedly consumed at least six 25-ounce beers over approximately two hours while she was supposed to be watching her son.
According to police, Farber became severely intoxicated and passed out in a patio chair. Another guest noticed the child was not visible and discovered the toddler floating face down in the pool. Emergency measures were attempted before the child was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Farber was arrested at the scene due to her high level of intoxication. Police obtained a warrant for blood tests, with results pending. During her time at the hospital, she reportedly became belligerent and spit on an officer. She is currently held on a $25,000 bond.
