13 Feb
Summary
- Two individuals were beheaded over witchcraft suspicions during a puja ritual.
- The accused believed victims caused his wife's miscarriage through witchcraft.
- Two neighbors were seriously injured intervening in the horrific attack.

In Atarwa village, Singrauli district, a shocking act of violence occurred early Thursday morning when a 21-year-old man, Chhatrapati Singh, allegedly beheaded two neighbors, Kemla Singh (65) and Phool Kumari Singh (50). Investigators believe Singh acted on a delusion that the victims were practicing witchcraft against him.
The motive appears linked to his wife's recent miscarriage, leading him to believe deities were angered. Singh reportedly invited victims to his home for a puja, a religious ritual, where the brutal attack took place. Two other villagers, Sumitra Singh and Rambhajan Singh, were seriously injured when they tried to stop the assailant.
Singh has been taken into custody, and police are treating the incident as a case rooted in superstition. Puja materials were found near the scene. Additional police have been deployed to maintain order in the village as the investigation continues.
