She recounted escaping by jumping from a car traveling approximately 20 mph to flee Thomas A. Welch, 31, who allegedly attacked her. Deputies responded to the scene around 1 a.m. and subsequently took the victim to a hospital for treatment.
According to an arrest affidavit, the victim stated the ordeal began with an argument in the car with Welch and Cody Kimery. She claimed Welch threatened her life and physically assaulted her, causing a severe head injury. Despite her pleas, Welch reportedly continued driving for an hour, with Kimery allegedly blocking her exit.
Authorities apprehended Welch on January 4, 2026, facing charges including attempted murder, aggravated domestic battery, and kidnapping. Dashcam footage from Welch's vehicle is said to corroborate the victim's account, capturing the suspects' actions. Kimery was charged with unlawful restraint on January 5, 2026.
