Summary
- A mother faces murder charges for her toddler's death.
- The toddler was found hanging in the basement.
- The mother pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

Corie Walsh, 40, appeared in court on September 24, 2026, to enter not guilty pleas to three murder charges. Her 2-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, was found deceased on September 1, 2026. The child was discovered hanging from a rafter in the basement of their Frankfort, Illinois home.
Walsh's defense team stated she was experiencing a brief psychotic disorder at the time of the incident. Her family, including her husband and mother, attended the court hearing to show their support. Prosecutors had previously alleged that Walsh intended to harm her other children and husband.
Authorities responded to the residence after a neighbor found Barrett. Upon arrival, officers found Walsh in a bathtub with dilated eyes and surrounded by bloody water. Walsh had reportedly become highly invested in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts mother accused of murdering her own children, which was nearing jury deliberations at the time of Barrett's death. Walsh's next court date is scheduled for October.
