IIT Grad Arrested for Threatening Bollywood Stars

Summary

  • An IIT graduate was arrested for sending threatening messages to film personalities.
  • The accused allegedly targeted Ayushmann Khurrana and possibly other actors.
  • He was apprehended in Bengaluru after a technical investigation.

Mumbai's crime branch apprehended a 30-year-old IIT graduate in Bengaluru on Wednesday for allegedly sending threatening messages to film personalities. Vaibhav Chandra Mishra, who holds a BTech degree and is currently unemployed, is suspected of acting out of frustration and possible mental health issues. His family in Bihar has been notified of his arrest.

Mishra, a native of Darbhanga, Bihar, was tracked down through technical analysis of Instagram accounts used to send threatening audio messages to actor Ayushmann Khurrana. DCP Raj Tilak Roshan confirmed that Mishra admitted to sending threats via Instagram and stated that the investigation is verifying suspicions of other fictitious accounts used to target additional celebrities.

This arrest comes shortly after actor Tusshar Kapoor reported receiving threatening audio messages demanding Rs 5 crore, purportedly from a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, a voice analysis by the crime branch found no similarity to the alleged sender's voice. Consequently, security was enhanced for Tusshar Kapoor and his sister, Ekta Kapoor.

The escalating threats to actors have intensified concerns within the film industry, especially after a recent firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff outside his Juhu residence. Several individuals have been arrested in connection with that separate case.
