Summary
- Idris Elba received a £147 fine and three penalty points.
- He was caught speeding on his scooter at 28mph.
- Elba's lawyers claimed the fixed penalty notice never arrived.

Sir Idris Elba, the renowned actor and DJ, was fined £147 and issued three penalty points after being caught speeding on his scooter. The offense occurred last June when the 53-year-old was clocked at 28mph in a 20mph zone along Chelsea Embankment in central London. Elba admitted to riding the scooter but stated he did not receive a fixed penalty fine, which he intended to pay.
His legal representatives informed Westminster Magistrates' Court that the fixed penalty notice never arrived. The prosecution, handled via the Single Justice Procedure, resulted in the fine, £110 in costs, and a £59 victim surcharge. This incident happened shortly after his collaboration with the King on a film celebrating The King's Trust's 50th anniversary, and follows his own knighthood for charity work.
