Summary
- Special Court in Raipur ordered property attachment.
- IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi accused in coal levy scam.
- Properties worth approx. Rs 4 crore identified by EOW.

The Special Court in Raipur has ordered the attachment of properties believed to be connected to IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi. This action stems from an ongoing investigation into a coal levy scam and allegations of disproportionate assets.
The State Economic Offences Investigation Bureau (EOW) registered a case against Vishnoi for allegedly acquiring assets far exceeding his known income sources. Investigations revealed that Vishnoi purportedly acquired significant immovable properties in the names of family members and various firms.
Previously, the Enforcement Directorate had provisionally attached five properties linked to Vishnoi in connection with the coal levy scam. During subsequent investigations, the EOW identified further immovable assets estimated at approximately Rs 4 crore.
On April 17, 2026, the Special Court approved the attachment of these newly identified properties. Consequently, any attempt to sell or transfer these assets is now prohibited, underscoring enforcement agencies' efforts against corruption.
