Student Outsmarts Blackmailers Demanding ₹50,000

In Hyderabad, a courageous 19-year-old student has successfully thwarted an extortion attempt. The student received threats via Instagram messages on May 9 from an acquaintance.
The blackmailer claimed to possess morphed nude videos and photographs of the student and demanded ₹50,000 to prevent their circulation. The amount was later negotiated down to ₹25,000.
Sensing a ploy, the student warned the blackmailer of legal action and immediately approached the Hyderabad cybercrime police. The accused subsequently deactivated their Instagram accounts.
Authorities have registered a criminal case against the individuals under relevant sections of the IT Act and the BNS, including charges for extortion and offenses related to nudity.
