Authorities in Telangana have uncovered a sophisticated chemical laboratory operating covertly within a poultry farm on the outskirts of Hyderabad. This setup, resembling a clandestine operation, was allegedly being used by Malela Jaya Prakash Goud, a 39-year-old individual previously arrested in September 2025 for manufacturing Alprazolam.
Goud was released on conditional bail in March 2026. Investigators tracked his activities, suspecting his continued involvement in drug offenses. The probe led to the discovery of the poultry farm setup in Thatikonda, Mahabhubnagar, approximately 125 kilometers from Hyderabad.
During the raid on July 29, 2026, police seized 1.15 kg of finished Alprazolam, valued at ₹20.30 lakh, alongside specialized manufacturing equipment and chemicals. Preparations for a large-scale operation were reportedly underway since April 2026, within two months of Goud's release.
The investigation has also exposed the supply chain for essential chemicals. A chemical supplier, Mirza of Prince Scientific Pharma, was arrested for providing 2-amino-5-chlorobenzophenone, a key precursor for Alprazolam production. Authorities are now examining other chemical traders for potential diversion of restricted chemicals for illicit drug manufacturing.
