15 Mar
Summary
- Man arrested for injecting relative with HIV-infected blood.
- Attack occurred after woman refused marriage due to his condition.
- Medical tests for infection may take up to three months.

A disturbing incident unfolded in Hyderabad when a 24-year-old man, employed as a transport supervisor, was arrested for allegedly injecting his HIV-infected blood into a 24-year-old relative. The attack occurred on March 11 at her residence after she declined his marriage proposal due to his HIV status. The accused reportedly informed her of the injection before fleeing. The woman fell ill the next day and later revealed the assault to her family, who then reported it to the police on March 14. Medical examinations are underway, with results expected within three months to determine infection.
The accused, who contracted HIV at birth, had his marriage plans with the relative cancelled after he tested positive for the virus. His parents have a history of HIV/AIDS. Driven by rejection, he allegedly believed infecting her would lead to her family accepting their union. He was arrested on March 15 and remanded to judicial custody, facing attempted murder charges.
