The incident occurred recently when a 60-year-old autorickshaw driver reportedly enticed the seven-year-old, who was playing nearby, with ₹20 and took her into his parked vehicle.
Bystanders K. Ramesh and Mavulamma noticed the suspicious activity and immediately intervened, ensuring the child's safety. They alerted the authorities, who arrived promptly to take the accused into custody. The rescued girl received medical attention, and the accused faces charges under the POCSO and SC/ST Acts.
Commending the couple's exemplary courage, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar felicitated them. He highlighted that public awareness and social responsibility are crucial in preventing crimes, urging citizens to report any suspicious behavior to the police.
