A video surfaced on Tuesday showing a sub-inspector from Hyderabad's Bijinapally police station allegedly manhandling locals and hurling abuses. The confrontation occurred when a group of people insisted on a breathalyser test for a car driver involved in a road accident that overturned an auto-rickshaw. Locals had already taken the injured to the hospital and alerted the police.
Police stated that the car driver was not drunk and that protesters opposed his transfer to the hospital due to his own injuries. The situation escalated when protesters allegedly attempted to attack police personnel at the sub-inspector's residential quarters. A criminal case has since been registered against the group for allegedly misbehaving with the police.
