Husband Arrested in Delhi Software Engineer's Suspicious Death

A 27-year-old software engineer's husband was arrested in Delhi on Saturday, nearly a month after she was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road. The arrest followed the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by the Dehradun district and sessions court. Police have sufficient circumstantial evidence pointing to the husband's role, registering a case of dowry death against him. The couple, originally from Visakhapatnam, had married in November 2025 and were residing in Delhi's Kidwai Nagar. The woman's family claims her death was a premeditated murder connected to dowry demands, a notion supported by evidence submitted to the police. They dispute the husband's account of them consuming alcohol, asserting the deceased did not drink.

The husband had told authorities that he found his wife deceased after they had consumed alcohol the previous night. Investigations reveal the couple had traveled from Delhi to Rishikesh before reaching the Mussoorie homestay late on June 14. The husband, who works at a private consulting firm in Pune, was reportedly absconding before his arrest. The ongoing investigation aims to determine the exact cause of the wife's death.
