In Dadri, a shocking crime unfolded last week when a 25-year-old man, Anuj Chauhan, was arrested for the alleged murder of his wife, Monika Nagar. The couple had a love marriage on February 17, which was known to both families.
Monika's half-burnt body was discovered on May 7 in an isolated area, hidden within a pile of cow dung. Police stated that Anuj, his parents, and a neighbor allegedly transported her body in an SUV and set it on fire to destroy evidence. Monika's family reported that she had been assaulted and pressured to transfer property valued at approximately ₹3 crore into her in-laws' names.
Anuj has been arrested, and the SUV allegedly used in the crime has been seized. A case has been registered against seven accused individuals, including Anuj, his parents, brother, uncle, aunt, and a neighbor. During questioning, Anuj admitted to an argument with Monika after she expressed a desire to visit her parents. He claimed family members told him she had hanged herself and was declared dead at a hospital. He further stated that villagers advised him to burn the body. The autopsy could not determine the exact cause of death due to the extensive burning, but viscera samples were preserved for forensic analysis.
