In Garhi Harsaru, a 23-year-old woman named Kajal was discovered deceased at her residence. Her husband, Arun Sharma (26), was apprehended on March 22, 2026, following allegations of administering a fatal poisonous injection. This alleged act followed months of harassment and physical assault related to dowry demands.
The complaint, filed by Kajal's brother, detailed that the couple, both healthcare workers, married in November 2025. However, Sharma, reportedly a drug addict, allegedly began harassing Kajal for dowry shortly after their marriage. The incident came to light on March 18 when Kajal was brought to Civil Hospital, declared dead on arrival.
Kajal's family reported that Sharma assaulted her on the night of March 17. The following morning, he took her to a room where she was later found unconscious. A syringe, purportedly used to inject a poisonous substance, was found in the bathroom. An FIR for dowry death was registered, and Sharma was remanded to three days of police custody.
