- Knight changed his plea to guilty on the day his murder trial was to start.

Paul Knight, a 36-year-old sales manager, pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife, Isobella 'Izzy' Knight, on January 8, 2026. He confessed to strangling her at their home in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, while their two daughters slept nearby. Knight had previously admitted to manslaughter but denied murder until the morning his trial was set to commence.
The court was informed that Knight decided to change his plea before Christmas after meeting with his barrister. He acknowledged his unlawful killing of Mrs. Knight, stating the events caused immense anguish. The body of the 32-year-old churchgoer was discovered by police investigating a car crash involving Knight in a McDonald's car park.
Knight, who was also behaving erratically at the crash scene, was subsequently arrested and charged. A post-mortem examination revealed Mrs. Knight died from pressure applied to her neck. Sentencing for Knight is scheduled for January 29, 2026, at Northampton Crown Court.
