In what police are describing as a plot reminiscent of a Bollywood thriller, a 31-year-old woman was allegedly killed in a deliberate crash on September 4 in Patan. Kavita Chaudhary Pandey was reportedly on her scooter when a rented pickup truck was intentionally rammed into her, causing a fatal accident.
Investigators have alleged that Kavita's husband, Priyansh Pandey, a notary advocate, orchestrated the murder to claim a Rs 1-crore accidental insurance policy. He is accused of hiring three men and arranging the pickup truck to make the incident appear as a tragic road accident.
Authorities have arrested three alleged accomplices involved in the incident. However, Priyansh Pandey remains absconding as police continue their search for him. The investigation into the insurance policy and its beneficiary is ongoing.
