Two men were killed and a third injured in a triple shooting that occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Friday in Huntington, West Virginia. The victims were discovered in a parking lot on 14th Street. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
The deceased have been identified as 39-year-old Derious Johnson and 26-year-old Adrian Phillips. Johnson was a cherished middle school basketball coach at St. Joseph Catholic School, described as a mentor who invested deeply in young people. Phillips was employed by Huntington's Public Works Department in the Street Division, known for his professionalism and pride in serving the community.
Mayor Patrick J. Farrell expressed the community's profound grief, stating that the loss of Phillips and Johnson, who were brothers, has devastated a family and shaken Huntington. He condemned the violence, assuring residents that law enforcement is fully engaged and committed to apprehending those responsible.
