Summary
- Human skull discovered by survey crew in wooded area near Detroit
- Skull could be linked to skeletal remains found in March nearby
- Police investigating to identify the remains and determine cause of death

On November 13, 2025, a human skull was discovered in a wooded area near Michigan Avenue and Newburgh Road in the city of Wayne, just outside Detroit. A survey crew working in the area made the grisly find around 2 p.m. local time.
According to police, the skull, which was missing teeth, could be linked to a case from March, in which more skeletal remains were discovered in the same vicinity. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office is now conducting lab work to try and identify the person the skull belonged to.
Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Carolyn Isaac stated that the discovery of the skull will help officials create a more complete profile of the unidentified individual. Authorities are currently comparing any available records, such as X-rays or CT scans, to the remains in an effort to determine the person's identity and potential connection to the previous case.
The investigation into the discovery of the human skull is still ongoing, and officials have not yet shared a cause of death for the unidentified person. The Wayne Police Department is continuing to gather information and evidence to shed light on this macabre mystery.
