In a deeply disturbing incident in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly murdered as part of a human sacrifice ritual. The victim's mother, her lover identified as Bheem Ram (40), and a self-styled tantrik are among those arrested by the police. The horrific event unfolded on the night of March 24 in Kusumbha village, shortly after the girl disappeared during a local procession.
Authorities formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case, which initially involved a complaint against another individual. The investigation revealed a shocking narrative where a local occult practitioner, Shanti Devi, allegedly persuaded the victim's mother that sacrificing a virgin girl would resolve family problems and her son's illness. The mother, who had been in contact with the tantrik for three months, was reportedly instructed to perform the ritual on Durga Ashtami.
Police claim that on the night of the sacrifice, the mother and her lover took the girl to the tantrik's residence. After initial rituals, the girl was led to a nearby bamboo grove. There, Bheem Ram allegedly strangled the child while the mother restrained her legs. The tantrik reportedly inserted a wooden stick into the girl's private parts, and Bheem Ram struck her head to collect blood for the ritual. All accused have been apprehended and remanded to judicial custody, with Bheem Ram also facing other murder allegations. This case serves as a grim reminder of the perils of blind faith and harmful superstitions.
