Skeletal remains, identified as likely human, were discovered on Wednesday afternoon at a construction site in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. The area has been secured by police tape to facilitate an ongoing investigation into the find.
The discovery was made on a site known as The Midway, which is being transformed by developer Capital & Centric. This project will introduce 111 new residential flats and a social hub featuring amenities such as a gym and a mini-cinema.
This development is part of a broader regeneration effort in Newcastle-under-Lyme, which includes projects at Ryecroft and York Place, collectively aiming to add 330 homes to the area. The Midway site has been replaced by a new Castle Car Park, which opened in January 2025.
