Summary

- Body exhumation requested to investigate suspected asphyxiation.

Prosecutors in Brazil have requested the exhumation of influencer Barbara Jankavski's body, widely known as 'Human Barbie,' to investigate her November 2nd death. Authorities had previously concluded Jankavski died from accidental cocaine use on December 2nd following a police investigation and forensic analysis. However, the São Paulo's Court of Justice has now ordered the case transferred to the Homicide and Personal Protection Department, at the Public Prosecutor's Office's urging.
The 31-year-old content creator, famous for showcasing her cosmetic surgeries online, was discovered unresponsive in the residence of public defender Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto. De Vitto stated he had hired Jankavski for sexual services and that they had consumed illicit substances. He reported calling emergency services after she became unresponsive.
While police noted an eye injury and marks on her body, a friend attributed the facial injury to a fall. Prosecutors now argue these markings suggest potential asphyxiation, possibly from an assault or strangulation. They have requested further neck examinations and DNA testing, pending court authorization for the exhumation.
