A 13-year-old girl, Casey-Louise Horrocks, tragically passed away in Huddersfield after experiencing four cardiac arrests. She was discovered unresponsive at a flat on Sheepridge Road in the early hours of August 11, 2025. Sadly, she died on August 12, 2025, at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
An inquest into her death commenced, where senior coroner Martin Fleming was informed by police that crucial reports are still outstanding. A post-mortem examination did not establish a formal cause of death, which is currently described as unexplained pending further investigation.
While a toxicology report has been completed, investigators are awaiting a report from a forensic pathologist. Due to these ongoing investigations, Detective Sergeant Aspinall requested a suspension of the inquest proceedings. The coroner has now suspended the inquest until August 24, 2026.
Casey-Louise was remembered by Mossley Hollins High School as a 'bright, full of character, always full of life' student. Her family described her death as a devastating and unexpected loss. A safeguarding review will also be conducted.
