A devastating crime unfolded in Houston on December 17, when Gerren Miles Crosson, 34, allegedly murdered his 71-year-old mother, Alta Green Veasley. Responding officers found Veasley with multiple stab wounds, including fatal injuries to the heart. In her final moments, she identified her son as the perpetrator.
Crosson was apprehended at the scene and reportedly told investigators, "I felt like it was something I needed to do." This alleged confession adds a chilling layer to the tragedy. Records indicate a prior incident in 2021 where Crosson assaulted his mother over a food dispute; however, those charges were dismissed at Veasley's request.
Veasley is remembered by her community for her warmth, generosity, and kindness, leaving a profound void. Crosson remains in custody on a $750,000 bond as the legal proceedings continue following his initial court hearing.
