Woman Shot in Attempted Carjacking in Houston

In Houston's Third Ward, a woman was injured in an attempted carjacking that occurred just after 2:30 a.m. on Live Oak Street. The victim was reportedly approaching a residence when a suspect demanded her car, leading to a violent confrontation.

During the struggle, the suspect pistol-whipped the woman on the back of her hand and then shot her in the left shoulder. She managed to escape and seek refuge at a nearby home. The assailant fled the scene on foot.

Houston police responded to the incident and conducted a search for the suspect, but he was not apprehended. The injured woman was transported to a local hospital, and her condition is reported as stable.

This incident comes after Houston police announced an increase in patrols in the Third Ward earlier in 2026, in response to a series of violent crimes. Despite these measures, crime data in the area has shown little change in recent years.
