Tragedy struck a METRO bus in west Houston on Wednesday when a woman was fatally shot by a suspect who had just boarded. The victim, an innocent bystander in her 20s, sustained a fatal head wound during the attack. The incident unfolded around 2:32 p.m. near Walnut Bend at Richmond Avenue.
The suspect, believed to be between 17 and 20 years old and clad in a black hoodie, shorts, and slides, reportedly discharged a weapon toward two males already on the bus. A stray bullet tragically hit the female passenger. She was transported to the hospital with severe injuries, where she later died.
Following the shooting, the bus driver immediately stopped the vehicle and ensured all other passengers were safely evacuated. The suspect fled the scene and was last seen entering an apartment complex. Law enforcement officials are currently conducting an active search for the suspect.
