Summary

- Christy Bautista was fatally stabbed 34 times.
- Sydnor had prior warrants and criminal record.

George Sydnor, 46, has received a 40-year prison sentence for the murder of Christy Bautista. Bautista, 31, was fatally stabbed 34 times in her hotel room in Washington, D.C., on March 31, 2023. She had traveled to the city to attend a concert.
Sydnor rode his bike to Bautista's ground-floor hotel room and entered it while she was ordering food. Hotel surveillance captured loud noises, and a witness heard screaming before police arrived to find Bautista deceased. Investigators found a broken kitchen knife, the murder weapon, in Sydnor's jacket left at the scene.
Bautista's family described the murder as sadistic and random, emphasizing that there was no apparent connection between her and Sydnor. They highlighted that Sydnor had outstanding warrants and a criminal record, raising concerns about system failures. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro stated the sentence delivers justice and holds Sydnor accountable for extreme violence.
