Andrew Georgiou, 45, has been sentenced to a mandatory life sentence for murdering his wife, Carol Georgiou, 42, in their garden hot tub. The judge ruled he must serve at least 16 and a half years before parole eligibility. Georgiou admitted to the brutal act, which occurred on November 2, 2024, after he could not accept the end of their 19-year marriage.
The court heard that Carol was intoxicated and naked in the hot tub when Georgiou attacked her. Her struggles were captured by a neighbor's CCTV. Georgiou waited approximately 40 minutes before calling for an ambulance and initially denied murder, only admitting guilt late in 2025. The judge criticized his "appalling" behavior after the murder as a "calculated attempt to mislead everyone."
During the sentencing hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court, Carol's sisters shared their profound grief, describing the murder as a "monstrous" act that had shattered their family. They also expressed shock that someone they had trusted could commit such a crime. The judge commended the family for their dignity and praised the police for their investigative work.
