A suspect fleeing a homicide scene in Camarillo on Saturday ended their life near Los Angeles International Airport. The incident began earlier that day when deputies responded to a shooting report in the 400 block of Walker Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies attempted life-saving measures on a man with gunshot wounds, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, who had not been identified as of Sunday morning, fled the scene in a vehicle, heading south on the 101 Freeway. The California Highway Patrol lost visual contact during the pursuit. The suspect was later sighted on the southbound 405 Freeway, eventually pulling off and stopping near Imperial Highway.
Ventura County Sheriff's Sgt. Chris Zapata confirmed that the suspect reached speeds exceeding 100 mph during the chase. The investigation into the homicide and the subsequent pursuit is being handled by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
