An 88-year-old Holocaust survivor, identified as Bella, was violently assaulted in broad daylight on Ben-Gurion Street in Ramat Gan. A 36-year-old resident allegedly attacked her without prior acquaintance, shouting insults and repeatedly punching her. The unprovoked assault resulted in serious facial and eye injuries, requiring hospitalization.
Bella was evacuated by Magen David Adom to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. She received treatment and remained under observation. The victim stated that the trauma from this attack was even more profound than her experiences during the Holocaust. Police confirmed the arrest of the suspect and emphasized their zero-tolerance policy for violence.
The suspect's detention was extended by the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court until Wednesday. He is to remain in custody under hospitalization conditions, with a defense appeal rejected. The investigation into the serious assault is ongoing.
